Cheyutha WCBO

Cheyutha, meaning, “helping hand” in Telugu, was established in 2005 with the support of LEPRA Society in Hyderabad. The Women’s Community-Based Organisation (WCBO) is a women’s community initiative for and by women living with HIV/AIDS, for care and support services with a special focus on women and children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Cheyutha has been rendering various care and support services such as counselling; referrals to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) centers; free treatment for opportunistic infections (OIs); foster care for orphan children; educational support to infected and affected children; arranging positive marriages; taking up legal issues and fighting for the rights of the deprived and vulnerable women, with a special focus on empowering women to lead dignified lives. Cheyutha has so far benefited a total of 1888 women through its services.

Cheyutha Joy Jute Enterprise

The Jute enterprise was the brainchild of JOY Group to make Cheyutha self-reliant. The started in 2016 has three machines, with ten women members including staff trained to bags. The group continues to participate in exhibitions and also takes private orders During the year.

Cheyutha produced 436 bags during the financial year and sold 340 bags to private individuals, institutions and at 3 stalls in Gachibowli, Kondapur and Somajiguda (under the auspices of ADP Pvt. Ltd), earning a total of ₹30,970.
